February 2010

Newsletter Number 125

The growing popularity of domestic broadband continues to fuel the Internet as a significant source of new music. The MaltaMedia Online Network started publishing music podcasts in 2005 and in the next couple of weeks Mużika Mod Ieħor ma’ Toni Sant will present the 200th edition.

Also in the next few weeks, the Maltese music pop scene will descend on Ta’ Qali for the annual appointment with the Malta EuroSong festival, which will pick Malta’s entry for next May’s 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo. I only bring this up because this event remains the one that gives Malta the largest live TV audience every year and creates a huge traffic spike on the Internet too.

Over the coming weeks, AboutMalta.com will continue to bringing you all sorts other things from Malta. All suggestions are welcome, of course. The best way to have your say is to leave a comment at the bottom of our latest newsletter on the website.

a. Your comments and messages

One of the most popular features on AboutMalta.com over the years was always the Visitors Book section. In recent months this has been overwhelmed with all sorts of junk messages by people who are only interested in selling little blue pills, enticing you to augment various body parts, and other such nonsense. We have therefore decided to replace the old Visitors Book section with a new way to leave comments on the AboutMalta.com website, enabling us to use better technology to filter out the clutter and publish only pertinent messages on our site. This can be done by simply visiting the newsletter from the main page at AboutMalta.com. All comments and messages will appear at the bottom of the newsletter archived on the website after they’ve been reviewed by a moderator.

b. Malta EuroSong 2010
