IF YES, the Malta Council for Science and Technology would like to hear from you.

The Council, in its role as a national advisory body to Government on the development of appropriate science and technology policies for Malta, is also responsible for identifying relevant expertise from overseas in this field. The main sought areas of expertise are :-

* alternative and renewable energies
* water sciences
* information and telecommunications technologies
* marine sciences
* biotechnology and biomedicine and health
* industrial innovation
* standardization, measurement and testing
* biodiversity
* environment, climate and remote sensing applications
* science education and popularization

The MCST is currently compiling a database of Maltese experts in science and technology resident abroad with the aim of identifying ways of involving these experts in local science and technology-related projects. The United Nations Development Programme has a scheme, the TOKTEM, which has been developed specifically for this purpose, i.e. to facilitate the transfer of knowledge of expatriate Maltese. This scheme is already being successfully implemented.
