On Saturday 13th May 2000, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) presented the 45th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The contest, which has been broadcast every year since 1956 in the majority of European countries, probably holds the record as the longest-running programme on TV.
