Dun Gorg Preca was a remarkable
individual who was raised to sainthood by Pope Benedict XVI in June 2007. In Malta he is
best known for establishing the Society of Christian Doctrine, better
known as M.U.S.E.U.M. He was born in Valletta on 12 February 1880 and
died in St Venera on 26 July 1962. His road to sainthood was initiated in
1975, and he was declared Venerable in June 2000. He beatified on 9 May
2001 by Pope John Paul II during his second visit to Malta.
