Sometimes it seems as if there are clearly two types of people in Malta: animal-lovers and hunters/trappers. This is a very extreme way to look at the situation since many animal-lovers and/or pet owners are also hunters/trappers and there are people who simply mistreat animals for no apparent reason. In any case, the Maltese are very involved with animals, be it as pets, livestock, or game.
